Kenya: Mwiria Blasts Separatist Mombasa Republican Council

Higher Education assistant minister Kilemi Mwiria has slammed the Mombasa Republican Council for calling for secession. Mwiria, without mentioning names, said those steering the agenda are to blame for the woes affecting the region.

"Many of those inciting the youth and the community are themselves part of the beneficiaries of what has caused problems of unemployment for the youth," he said.

Mwiria warned that incitement will have a negative impact on the country's economy, saying it will scare away investors. The Tigania West legislator called on the youth to shun inciters.

He called on youth to embrace and promote national coexistence. He said the youth have the power to set the correct example to the rest of Kenyans.
