KOLONGOLO FC bounced back into contention after registering a 2-0 win over Kabras in the Western mini league encounter at Mumias Sugar Sports Complex yesterday. Benedict Barasa gave Kolongolo the lead barely 15 minutes into the match after connecting a Ben Etemesi cross from outside the box.
Robert Odhiambo made it 2-0 after 26 minutes from an 18-metre shot to seal the game. The Busia -based side lost their first game 2-1 to Lugusi and will take on Shinyalu today in their next game.
It was a setback to Kabras whose bid to qualify for next year's Nationwide League now hangs on a knife's edge. Kabras lost 3-1 to Mumcom in their first game and will need to win all their remaining matches if they are to qualify.
Lugusi and Mumcom battled to a 3-3 draw in a thriller-a-minute clash to retain their unbeaten record in the tournament. In other matches, Hamisi beat Butere Sportif 1-0, Lake View hammered Bee All Stars 4-0 while Ikolomani beat New Northern Star 2-1. The tournament continues today.
