Kenya: Kanu Ready for Elections

KANU chairman Gideon Moi has said the party will field candidates in all 47 counties. Speaking at Moi Gardens in Lodwar, Turkana yesterday during a series of rallies, Moi said the party will soon announce it's position on the formation of a coalition.

"It is true that Kanu has no presidential candidate, however we will field our candidates in all the 47 counties," said Moi. The chairman asked the government to intensify security saying insecurity may be a threat to fair elections.

He said there is a plan to disrupt the voter registration by causing violence in some parts of the country. "The government has to ensure there is peace. The insecurity the country has been experiencing since the formation of the coalition government is not good" said Moi.

Two weeks ago, 42 policemen were killed in Samburu, a thing that has elicited mixed reactions among wananchi and leaders. "The trend of insecurity in the country has been ongoing after last general elections, the government must come up with a lasting solution to safeguard wananchi" said Moi.
