Nigeria: Martins, Song Renew Rivalry

Nigerian international, Obafemi Martins Of Levante will this weekend renew his rivalry with Cameroon international Alex Song of Barcelona as the two African rivals go head to head for their clubs. Levante has been in fine form recently and their push for Champions League football is still on as they are fourth on the table behind Real Madrid.

Martins continued his goal scoring form last week when he netted against Deportivo La Coruna to take his season tally to five. Incidentally, Alex Song also scored his first goal for Barcelona last week and he will be keen to stop Martins from increasing his goal tally. Barcelona during the week won 3-0 away to Emmanuel Emenike's Spartak Moscow to book their place in the second round of the Champions League.

Messi scored twice in the game to take his goals for the year 2012 to 80 goals five shy of Gerd Muller's record of 85 goals. It is just a matter of when Messi will reach 85 as it is certain barring any injury he is set to break the record. Also, Barcelona is still unbeaten in the league after 12 games and Levante will want to have that singular honour of halting Barcelona's unbeaten run this season. Real Madrid had to rely on Morrata to score a late goal before it could beat Levante so it's sure not going to be easy for the league leaders at the Ciutat De Valencia this weekend.

Athletico Madrid Vs Sevilla

Athletico Madrid will be keen on continuing its good runs of form when it faces Sevilla at the Vicente Calderon. Athletico is second on the table and has been consistent. Falcao has been leading the team this season and there are questions about his future as he may be sold to Chelsea during the January transfer window. His coach, Diego Simeone recently declared that Falcao is the best number nine in the world.

Many have questioned Athletico's title push as they always falter but their real test will come when they face Barcelona and Madrid.Sevilla on the other hand last week demolished Real Betis 4-0 in the Seville derby to show their status as the number one Andalusia team. The win pushed them to 7th on the table and they are just two points below the last Champions League place. Both teams are on a run of good form and Athletico will go out for a win to keep pace with Barcelona.

Real Betis Vs Real Madrid

Real Betis will be looking to bounce back from last week's mauling at the hands of their neighbours against defending Champions Real Madrid. It will be a tough task considering that Real Madrid won its last five games. Last week they demolished Atheltico Bilbao 5-1 with Karim Benzema the star of the show. Ronaldo was not on the scoresheet and the foward will be hoping to bounce back against Betis.

He has fallen behind Messi in the goal scoring chart as the Argentine now has five goals more than him as both players go head -to-head for the Ballon D'or prize come end of the year. Even though Madrid has won its last five league games it is still eight points behind league leaders Barcelona and will be setting its sights on picking all three points at stake against Betis hoping Barcelona suffer a dip in form sooner than later.
