Nigeria: ANA Abuja Partners Savannah Suites Hotel to Enhance Reading Culture

The Association of Nigerian Authors {ANA} Abuja branch this evening entered into a rare partnership agreement with Savannah Suites, a high brow hotel located at Area 3 of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) towards encouraging reading culture among Nigerians.

The ceremony for the relationship was performed at the sprawling reception hall of the hotel with key management staff in attendance. The hotel had earlier, approved the use of its Zuma Hall for reading, book exhibition and other educational activities of the Association aimed at attracting and encouraging Nigerians to read books for mental development.

In his opening address at the occasion, Chairman of Abuja Chapter of ANA Eriata Oribhabor expressed happiness over the approval by the hotel for the Association to use for its activities saying that the gesture would go a long way in assisting their campaign for improvement in the reading culture of the people. He pledged to mobilize residents of FCT especially the youth to take advantage of the association's reading sessions to improve themselves.

"Abuja ANA will put this place into productive use to the benefit of Nigerians and every one who loves to read. We will reach out to young ones, we will reach out to the old and we will reach out to even non- Nigerians who want to improve on their reading culture to benefit from your kind gesture," the Chairman said.

In his response, the General Manager of Savannah Suites Nnabuihe Ekene said the management of the hotel approved the partnership with ANA because of the organization's commitment to contributing to the development of the country especially the educational sector. He disclosed that several non- governmental organizations, including women and youth based, have been benefiting from such voluntary and non- profit gestures from the hotel.

"It is part of our corporate social responsibility. We are committed to giving part of whatever we have to the community as long as it would lead to improvement of the quality of lives of the people. We will continue to do more once the objective is for development and welfare of the people," Nnabuihe said.

Some members of the Association that accompanied Mr. Oribhabor to the programme include Uba Ugwueze and Patrick Ogbe. The Manager Operations of Savannah Suites Davies Uba also attended the programme.
