Egypt: Al-Tayyeb Approves Setting-Up Azharist Institutes in Southern Sinai

Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed el-Tayyeb, said that Al-Azhar is highly interested in setting up several Azhari institutes in northern and southern of Sinai within the framework of a plan charted out to upgrade the learning process in Sinai and remote areas.

A committee led by Galal Qoretm, an educational development expert, has been dispatched to Sinai to probe the problems of Azharite institutes.

The committee has held several meetings with Sinai residents who asked for necessarily opening a branch of Al-Azhar University in Sinai in accordance with the approval of Al-Azhar Sheikh, said Galal Qoretm.

The Sinai residents further demanded expansion of establishing Azharite institutes, he added.
