Egypt: River Nile Course to Be Diverted for Third Time in History

The River Nile is expected to witness on Saturday 24/11/2012 an event that is the 3rd of its type in history, as its course will be diverted in the city of Assiut to pass behind old archway.

Meanwhile, an industrial divert canal that links the River Nile's eastern and western tributaries is expected to be open to guarantee discharging the River Nile water designated to each governorate to main waterways.

The step is considered an announcement of the end of the first phase of preparations and foundation for the construction of the Assiut archway and its hydroelectric plant.
