Former Miss Montserrado County, who was declared winner by judges in the fiasco Miss Liberia 2012 Beauty Pageant, has vehemently condemned rumors in a local entertainment paper here, linking her to social promiscuity.
Miss Brigitte Rohouna condemned the publication and described it a strategy being used by editors and publishers to increase sales. The former Miss Montserrado has however urged journalists to strive for factual reportage.
"I believe in the work of the media; it is discouraging to see or hear people in the media, who are supposed to be speaking the truth in our society, deviating and running gossip," she noted.
The Starz Entertainment paper in its November 8, 2021 edition captioned, 'Former Miss Montserrado, 'Brigitte' in Love Dilemma.' The paper alleged that the former beauty pageant contestant was at a center of another controversy.
Failing to name any source, the paper blatantly accused Brigitte of financial malpractices when she worked as an intern at Afriland First Bank located on Crown Hill, Monrovia.
It further said that she was seen plying the streets of Monrovia in flashy cars, and involved in a love relationship with two businessmen, something the beauty queen was amazed about.
But in a recent interview with NASBAA website- a US based blog in Southfield, Michigan, she was graciously unhinged in describing her detractors, terming the report as vague criticism which needs no response or clarification.
"Sometimes we are criticized with no justification...this is a painful experience. But, potentially we can deal with it more easily than criticism, which is justified", she cautiously hinted.
"I understand they sensationalize headlines just to sell papers which are a good thing - but at what expense," she questioned, "adding, "I hope they don't intend to carry out their ego at the expense of other people's children and demoralize our young women before they even start to fulfilling their dreams."
