Tanzania: Death of Watchman Shrouded in Mystery

A resident of Leganga Area in Arumeru District, Arusha Region identified by the name of Torongei Olaliyoi (30) was found dead but the cause of his death has not yet been established.

Arusha Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Liberatus Sabas said that the incident occurred on November 12 this year in the Leganga Area, Usa River.

Sabas said that preliminary reports indicated that on the day of the incident, the deceased was guarding the house owned by one Israel Macha.

The body of the deceased was recovered by a watchman of a neighbouring house who happened to visit Torongei and found him laid beside the house which is his place of work. He informed the neighbours who later reported the matter to the police.

Commander Sabas said that the cause of the death has not been established and police were still investigating the incident. The body was preserved in the mortuary of the Mount Meru Regional Hospital for examination.
