Windhoek — Gideon Nasilowski, Paralympics swimmer of Namibia, is on his way again to the Central Gauteng Aquatics Championship in Johannesburg next month.
He is set to break his previous records and to hold the Namibian banner high in his quest to put Paralympics swimming in Namibia on the map.
"With this we would like to thank Jerry Tobias, chief operations officer of Franchise Namibia CC, a man with a golden heart who approached Gideon out of his own to provide him with a sponsorship. Franchise Namibia sponsored N$5 000 for accommodation for Gideon and his manager Ruan Schuan," reads a statement by Gideon's handlers.
Tobias, a noted striker during his younger days on the football field, said it's a great pleasure to sponsor Gideon after noticing his dedication in the gym every day, which he described as an inspiration to many.
"I challenge the whole of Namibia to follow suit and improve on this sponsorship and to ensure that Paralympics sport in Namibia is taken seriously."
The championship will take place during December 5-9.
