Namibia: Baby Found Between His Dead Parents

AN eight-month-old baby boy was found between the bodies of his dead parents in a room at the Mondesa single quarters on Saturday morning.

The baby’s mother (24) was lying on a bed with a bullet wound to her chest while the 32-year old father’s body was on the floor – shot in the head.

Police Deputy Commissioner Ottilie Kashipuulwa said the deceased man’s friend made the grisly find on Saturday morning and reported it to the police.

It is suspected that the man had shot the mother before turning the gun on himself.

“Nobody knows anything at this stage. No one heard anything so whether an argument broke out between the two is not clear. There is also no suicide note. We are investigating a possible case of domestic violence,” Kashipuulwa said.

The child was apparently asleep on the floor when he was found. He was taken to hospital.

According to Kashipuulwa, the next of kin will be asked to take the baby into their care.
