Nigeria: Babalola, Abinu Win Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship

Top seeds Abdulmumuni Babalola and Fatima Abinu have emerged the men and women's singles champions, respectively, of this year's Dala Hard Tennis Championships in Kano.

The championships ended on Saturday with Babalola beating Lawal Shehu 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets, to win the N750, 000 cash prize on offer.

In the female category, defending champion, Abinu, defeated Blessing Samuel 6-1, 2-6 and 7-5 to take home the N375, 000 cash prize.

In the men's doubles, the pair of Candy Idoko and Shehu Lawal beat the duo of Chukwuma Abba and Sunday Maku 6-4, 6-2 to claim the N300,000 prize money.

Speaking at a post-match conference, Babalola said his victory came from his determination.

"I was determined to win the tournament and I thank God that my determination saw me through," he added.
