Egypt: Nation Rejects Excuses for Holding Nuclear Conference

Egypt rejects excuses for not holding a conference on establishing a Middle East zone free of weapons of mass destruction as scheduled, said Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr.

The conference was planned to be held in Finland in December under the 2012 Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference Final Document but was held off by its organizers.

In statements Sunday, Amr hailed the unified Arab position against the decision to cancel the conference.

The Arab Leagues' committee of senior officials on disarmament affairs will convene within the coming days to tackle the unfortunate developments, he said.
