Ethiopia: The Great Ethiopia Run Held for the 12th Time

The Great Ethiopian Run was held for the 12th time yesterday in Addis Ababa. 36,000 people participated including well known athletes from Kenya, Japan, the UK, Switzerland, Uganda, Ireland, Israel and Ethiopia.

Ambassadors and members of the diplomatic community in Addis Ababa also participated as did tens of thousands of ordinary runners, men, women and children. Hagos Gebrehiwot and Aberu Degefa won the men and women's 10,000 meters respectively and the 40,000 birr prizes for the winners. The race was started by Addis Ababa Mayor, Kuma Demeksa.
