Sudan: Armed Herders Accused of Killing Farmer

Kendebe Camp — Adam Abkar, a displaced person from Kendebe camp in West Darfur was allegedly shot dead by armed herders inside his farm on Sunday evening, November 25, Radio Dabanga has learned.

A witness told Radio Dabanga that the armed herders reportedly opened fire on the farmer and shot him in the head and chest.

The farmer was killed on the spot when he tried to chase the herders from his farm in Wadi Jughana at about 1 kilometer from Kendebe camp, the witness added.

He explained that the herders try to enter their cattle onto the farms of the local residents in the areas of Wadi Bir Dagig all the way to Wadi Jughana.

The witness pointed out that the fatal victim is the second victim of the armed herders within one week. He said: "our fate is with God after the authorities fail to protect us and our farms from the armed herders," the witness added to Radio Dabanga from Kendebe camp in Sirba locality.
