Kenya: Unemployment a Disaster - Kiyiapi

Presidential hopeful on RBK ticket James Kiyiapi has promised to declare youth unemployment a national disaster if elected president. Kiyiapi said he will do so within three months of ascending to the presidency.

He challenged President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to do this before he does it. He was speaking yesterday at Kibyuk girls high school in Mount Elgon constituency where he attended a leadership vetting forum for Bungoma County organized by Vijana Umoja Pamoja Foundation.

Later while speaking at PEFA Cathedral Of Faith Church in Kitale, Kiyiapi urged Kenyans to take the electoral process seriously as the outcome will affect their lives.

He said he is worried more of citizens "who just sit and do nothing while their lives are bargained away" than tribalism and coalition frenzy.
