Rwanda to Help Improve Regional Social Security

The Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) will work closely towards a 'common regional vision' for social security as a way of improving penetration levels for Rwandans.

According to Angelique Kantengwa, the director general of RSSB, social security is a vital need for all EAC locals.

"We are doing everything required to foster social protection in the region as a means to improving livelihoods," said Kantengwa shortly after taking over the chairmanship of the East and Central Africa Social Security Associations (ECASSA). Rwanda's RSSB and ECASSA recently co-hosted the 5th African Regional Social Security Conference in Kigali whose main agenda was to discuss mechanisms for the development of "a common vision" that can position social security to play a significant role in socio-economic devt.
