Kenya: Dust Engulfs Police Homes

Kitengela police officers and their families are living in dust after Nkurrunka Road that passes near their tin-roofed houses, was recently excavated by a Chinese contractor.

The police officers and their families now say their children are in danger of catching diseases. They now cook once at night when the dust has settled down and have to wake up before 3am to roll up their bedding in polythene bags.

The officers claimed that because of the nature of their work, they are not required to complain in the media or else they will be reprimanded. Some of the officers were dosing outside their houses yesterday.
