Kaduna — The 9th edition of the Chief of Air Staff Annual Golf Tournament came to an ended at the weekend at the Wuyep Lakeside Golf Course in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base Kaduna with Air Vice Marshal Frank Iyoyoko emerged winner of the officers' category with 177 gross, while Andrew Tcheche grossed 147 to win the guest category.
Malam Sulieman Abdullahi emerged the guest runner-up with 148 gross, while Air Commodore Oduawu grossed 178 to emerge as the runner-up in the officers' category.
Mr Sunday Julius shot 134 to win the best net, followed by Malam Husseini Peter who scored 135 to emerged runner-up net in the guest category.
Flight Lt. Haliru scored 136 to emerge the best net followed by JF Sani as runner-up net with 168 in the officers' category. Malam Saleh Idris grossed 143 to win the guest category II for handicap 15 to 28 beating Malam S. Abdulsalam. While Garba Musa won the best net with 126 totals beating Sunny Ogohi who score 126.
Air Commodore BP Solomon grossed 176 to win the officers category II, while Air Commodore Adekoya won the best net with 135 beating Group Capt. MUL Mshelia who scored 139.
The guest ladies category was won by Ivy Achim with best gross of 176 while J. Ekhepan was runner-up net with 177, Amadi Cecilia was best net with 139 followed by Mitchell Danjuma who scored 145. IJ Memba grossed 255 to win the airwomen category, while Corporal J. Nwani was bets net with 129.
The newly introduced NAF retirees' category was won by Wing Commodore A. Mshelia (rtd) who grossed 166, while Air Commodore Okolo (rtd) won best net with 130.
Addressing the competition, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh congratulated the winners and the organizers for putting together the competition.
He said the game of golf would help NAF develop its men physically and mentally and help it transform to self reliance.
The guest of honour, Air Marshall Jonah Wuyep in his remarks said golf is a game that brings the organizations top hierarchy and lower cadre together while offering opportunity for informal interaction, exercise and socialization.
