Nigeria: Eko 2012 - Team Sokoto Storms Lagos With 110-Man Contingent

The Sokoto State contingent to the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) arrived in Lagos yesterday, an official of the team has said.

The Director of Finance of the Sokoto State Sports Council, Abdullahi Akawama, informed that the team was made up of 98 athletes and 12 officials.

He said that the athletes had trained well for the two-week fiesta. "We have come to the Games to compete well and not just to make up the number.

"We are positive that our athletes will cause a lot of upsets at the Games," Akawama said. Team Sokoto would be residing at the Games Village of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH).

Sokoto State did not win any medal at the "Garden City Games" in Port Harcourt in 2011. The festival tagged, "Eko 2012" will hold from Nov. 27 to Dec. 9.
