"It is always encouraging when citizens take development into their own hands" he said. He added: "I say so because this country does not belong solely to the Government of Liberia; it belongs to you; it belongs to me, as your fellow citizen. And, while Government is working hard and smart to build a better nation and a better future for all of us, and for our children, we each have to do our part, in our respective counties, districts and communities, towns and villages", Minister Sulonteh cautioned.
Regarding how the KDA can move itself forward in the coming days, months and years ahead, the Minister suggested, saying, "I would like to suggest an approach by which you can attract and sustain development in this area. The approach includes but not limited to: advocacy, education, outreach and enterprise."
In addition to the LD$35,000 gift to the KDA, Deputy Minister Solunteh also made a personal on the spot contribution of $US100 for the organization's new office construction project, as well as pledging LD$10,000.
Minister Sulonted urged members of the KDA to unite in the interest of their district, and the community at large, saying, "You need to bring all of your capabilities and most effective knowledge of skills on the table in order to make the KDA a great organization. You can only do this if you work together as a people and as a district."
Earlier, the acting chairperson of the KDA, Mrs. Zoe Anderson-Bryant, thanked Minister Konneh and the MOF family for gracing the occasion, describing this acknowledgement of the KDA's values and vision as noteworthy.
"I am very pleased to see you here today Mr. Minister" Mrs. Bryant said. Adding "Minister Konneh has always answered to our call whenever we call upon him. He has done it many times and we sincerely appreciate his coming here today."
