Nigeria: Ex Eagles to Battle Nollywood Stars On Aids Day

Former Super Eagles stars led by Daniel Amokachi, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Emmanuel Amuneke, Taribo West and a host of others have been listed to take on Nigeria's Nollywood and music stars in a novelty match to mark the 2012 World AIDS Day.

The match scheduled for December 1 at the famous Campos Square in Lagos Island, is one of the several events listed to draw attention to the scourge of the ailment.

According to the Communications Coordinator of the programme, Mojisola Adebola other notable ex internationals like Mutiu Adepoju, Celestine and Emmanuel Babayaro, Tijjani Babangida, Emeka Ezeugo and others have signified their intentions to be part of the novelty show.

"M.I, 9ice, Segun Arinze, Wande Coal, Gordons, Faze, Ice Prince, Yemi Blaq, Dr. Sid, Yul Edochie , John Njama, Femi Brainard , Nonso Diobu, Uti Nwachukwu , Olamide, Sound Sultan, John Dumelo, Klint da Drunk, Afeez Ayetoro (Saka), Chinedu Ikedieze (AKI), Osita Iheme (Pawpaw), Sexy Steel , Magnito , ID Cabasa and Eboh Bomb have all confirmed their participations," she noted.

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has also listed; A Mobile Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) station to be set up for spectators, players and participants at the venue.

"This is aimed at providing an opportunity for people to receive counselling and also to be tested to know their HIV status at no cost to them. Celebrities will have photo sessions with people living with HIV as part of the strategy to address the stigmatisation of such individuals," observed Adebola.
