Tanzania: Arusha Invests U.S. $10 Million in Roads

Arusha — The Arusha City Authority has invested a total of Tsh25b ($10m) to reconstruct all roads.

The funds were allocated to Arusha authorities under the World Bank funded Tanzania Strategic Cities project, according to the authority's publicist Hosea Nteghenjwa.

The first phase of the project will cover 7.2km comprised of 23 roads in the central business district that include Pangani, Livingstone, Mtendeni, Image, Nyamwezi, Azmio, Kikuyu, Masjeed Bondeni, Wapare, Lindi, Wasukuma, Romboshine, Mtei, Ngwaranecha, TCI, Wachaga, Stadium, Themi and Father Babu among others.

The reconstruction project which also includes the second phase that will cover among others Majengo, Colonel Ndomba and Njiro roads was commissioned by Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete recently.
