Rwanda's Foreign Minister and Government Spokesperson today said attacks on Rwanda by the FDLR would be contained by the RDF and that the fighting would not be allowed to escalate:

"This morning's attack by the FDLR forces from their bases in DRC is clearly an attempt to take advantage of the volatile situation in Eastern DRC. We will counter any violation of Rwandan territory by the FDLR and continue to protect our borders but will not allow today's fighting to derail the ongoing regional peace process."

Minister Mushikiwabo added that one civilian was killed and three injured by the FDLR. Some of the residents of Bugeshi and Cyanzarwe Sectors of Rubavu District had moved temporarily for their safety. It has also been confirmed that six FDLR fighters have been killed and two captured by the RDF.
