Rwanda: MTN Re-Launches 'Sharama' Promotion

MTN Rwanda, the country's leading telecommunications service provider, has decided to re-launch 'Sharama' promotion to retain clients as telecom competition stiffens.

According to Rwanda Utilities and Regulatory Agency (RURA) recently released subscriber figures, MTN Rwanda had grown to over 3.20 million subscribers by the end of September 2012

The promotion will take four weeks with over 12,000 subscribers expected to win in the promotion of worth over Rwf100 million prizes, including four brand new cars.

Sharama, loosely translated to mean 'Shine', gained its popularity when it was first introduced in July this year, during which lucky subscribers walked away with three cars among other prizes.

In second phase of the promotion dubbed 'Sharama 2', customers will have the chance to win cash prizes, worth Rw40 million, airtime vouchers, and a brand new car during the promotion.

MTN Rwanda has embarked on the product to attract new customers which is line with the company's brand value, 'the ability to do'.

According to Yvonne Manzi Makolo, MTN Rwanda's Chief Marketing Officer, the 'Sharama 2' promotion is designed to "give back to loyal MTN clients and also stimulate excitement in the market especially during the festive season, as the company subscriber base grows".

"At MTN Rwanda we continuously place customer experience as a top priority, and now that we are approaching the festive season, we wanted to provide an exciting promotion that empowers the lives of our customers. Through the daily weekly and bi-weekly prizes, we believe that MTN Rwanda will make a difference by positively impacting the lives of the winners," she added.

According to Rwanda Utilities and Regulatory Agency (RURA) recently released subscriber figures, MTN Rwanda had grown to over 3.20 million subscribers by the end of September 2012.

"The promo will also reward customers who have been inactive for more than 30 days on the network. A customer who re-activates the SIM card will get a fixed amount of points to start with, and will stand a chance of winning," Makolo said.

To enter the draw, a client will have to send an SMS to 155 at Rwf35 or call 155 and that same number will be dialed to check accumulated points.
