Kenya: Trainer Oliver Gary Best At Mcmillan Challenge Cup

Trainer Oliver Gray carried the day with the surety of claiming the McMillan Challenge Cup ran over 2060m on Sunday at the Ngong Race course.

Having saddled all the four runners in this race, the least expected but promising performer Whispering Murray ridden by Jacob Lokorian for Mr Patel, surprised many as he outsmarted stable mates to shine three legs a head of Inyordreams.

Murray who had finished in second place twice and third once over the same distance consecutively had to prove his critics wrong at last, carrying the least weight of 50kg.

The most respected, Heard The One who many reckon would thrive easily, struggled for third place to the disappointment of it's admirers.

Lokorian, who missed the championship last season by a small margin, has started his campaign once again and Sunday was a good outing for him.

His second win came through Mohammed Noor trained 3-year-old filly Dryandra, who broke from her maiden on her fourth outing. He later earned his treble, ridding Femme Fatale for trainer Bindia Devani.Trainers Patsy Sercombe and Wakini Ndegwa walked away with a double each to complete the seven claimed races on card.
