The Meru University College of Science and Technology held celebrations after the institution was recently recognized by the government as a distinguished tax payer for the year 2012.

The university received the regional award for northern region for its valuable contribution to the government's revenue generation efforts.

MUCST which is a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology was among three Institutions singled out as having demonstrated high levels of compliance, timeliness and integrity in filing returns.

"We are happy to have won the distinguished Tax Payer Award for the northern region. This demonstrates our commitment to offer quality services in line with our vision of being a world class university of excellence," said principal, Prof. Japhet Magambo.
