Angola: Nation Urged to Strengthen Actions in Promotion of Child

Luanda — The representative of UN Children Fund (UNICEF) in Angola, Koenraad Vanormelingen, Tuesday in Luanda said that Angola should continue to strengthen actions in favour of children, with a view to ensuring productivity, development and equity.

Speaking to Angop, on the sidelines of the Conference on Birth Registration and Positive Education, the UNICEF official called for the need of families, churches and civil society to participate actively in the process of changing social norms, which still hinder the birth registration of Angolan children.

The source also urged for the need of all to get mobilised around the birth registration.

According to him, the statistical data show the need of innovative and urgent actions at the level of the executive and especially the communities and families.

The conference coincides with the celebrations of the World Prayer's Day (November 20) and is running under the theme "Reducing violence, poverty and build peace.
