Cameroon: Thieves Attempt Breaking into Douala NSIF Office

Three people suspected of robbery attempt upon the office of the National Social Insurance Fund in Ndokoti have been arrested.

The suspects, 29-year-old Fabien Simo, 24-year-old Cedric Njinkeu Lewat and 36-year-old Bertrand Njami Batchou, were taken into custody in the night of Tuesday, November 20. The story goes that four armed men were found struggling to break into the NSIF building at Ndokotti.

Informed of the imminent commission of the criminal act, police of the Rapid Intervention Unit, under the command of Inspector Elie Maidadi swung into action and upon arrival, the men took to their heels. But the policemen were faster than them as they succeeded to arrest three of the four armed men.

Their operating material made up of two nail removers, an iron cutter, three mobile phones and two motorbikes were seized from them by the Police. The elements of ESIR were joined on the scene by the anti-gang unit of the judicial police as well as the regular patrol of the Central Police Station No.2 in Logbaba where the three suspects were taken to, for investigations.
