Egypt: Constitutional Declaration Crisis About to Be Resolved

Justice Minister Ahmed Makki stressed on Monday 26/11/2012 that the political crisis over the president's recent constitutional declaration would be resolved after the meeting between President Mohamed Morsi and the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

He also said that he believed the president would back the SJC's proposal limiting the scope of his new constitutional declaration.

Makki added that president Morsi hoped to establish the rule of law and that the current conflicts would subside once all parties met.

He stressed that Morsi wants to finish establishing State institutions, adding that unspecified forces are hindering the process.

I have no [relations] with political talks. There's an atmosphere of mistrust between the two groups, he said. It's about intentions, not procedures, he added.
