Tunisia: President Marzouki At House of Commons

London — Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki was received on Monday at the British House of Commons where he met respectively with Speaker John Bercow and several MPs.

The talks turned on the democratic transition process in Tunisia, particularly in legislative matters, and on the furtherance of the new Constitution drafting within the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) and the balance between the legislative and executive powers.

President Marzouki stressed on this occasion the importance of finding a balance between the legislative and executive powers like the British model which favours mutual control between the two powers, Secretary of State to Foreign Affairs Hédi Ben Abbès told TAP news agency special correspondent.

The House of Commons speaker expressed readiness to provide all the necessary technical assistance to Tunisian MPs in drafting the new Constitution, Ben Abbès added.
