Luanda — An International Conference on Lobito Development Corridor will take place on 29-30 November in the city of Lobito, central Benguela province.
In a press note that reached Angop on Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport informs that the two-day event will happen under the slogan "Lobito Corridor in the economic reinforcement of Southern Africa".
According to the document, the conference will discuss themes such as opportunities, potentialities and perspectives of Lobito Corridor development.
The meeting will also analyse the impact in the national and regional development Benguela Railways, Lobito Port, International Airport of Catumbela and Lobito Corridor, logistic platforms along the referred Corridor, as well as the environment and potentialities of tourist development of the region.
The event will be attended by the technicians from the countries that comprise Lobito corridor, namely Angola, DRC and Zambia, as well as experts of other states, investors and business people.
Lobito Development Corridor is a regional project from Lobito Port to the mining regions of DR Congo (Katanga province) and Zambia (Copperbelt).
The corridor has as fundamental tool the Benguela Railways (CFB) that crosses the Angolan territory in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico.
The key transport infrastrutures of Lobito Corridor are Lobito Port, Benguela Railways, International Airport of Catumbela and provincial airports of Benguela, Huambo, Kuito and Luena.
The corridor aims to facilitate the Access to the sea of the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico, as well as the landlocked neighbouring countries such as DR Congo and Zambia.
