Angola: Country Proud About Winning African Clubs Handball Cup

Luanda — The conquest of the 16th African clubs handball title, by Petro de Luanda's senior females team, a competition that took place recently in Tanger, Morocco, filled with "enormous satisfaction and emotion" the Youth and Sports Ministry, which announced last Tuesday its stand regarding the deed of the Angolan ladies.

According to a document signed by the Youth and Sports Ministry, Gonçalves Muandumba, this deed makes the country proud, specially because two Angolan teams (1º de Agosto being the other one) participated in this final stage of the African Champion Clubs Cup in handball, just like in the previous edition.

According to the government official, the excellent performance and unquestionable victory of Petro de Luanda confirms once again the hegemony of Angolan handball in the continent.

"This title is a prize, in all dimensions, for the athletes, managers and the board of the club, for everything they have done to dignify the Angolan handball, particularly, and African handball in general, so on behalf of the Youth and Sports Ministry, and on my own behalf, I address my sincere congratulations", reads the note.

Last Saturday, Petro de Luanda retained the African female handball clubs title, after defeating 1º de Agosto in the final, by 29-23.
