Liberia: Market Women Appeal for Govt Support

The Acting Superintendent and Table Director of the Old Road Joe Bar Market, Julia Barney has called on the Liberian government to quickly intervene in renovating the unfinished market building.

Madam Barney said the condition of the market has deteriorated to an extend where the roof has got rotten and fallen due to the heavy rainfall.

She said that with the renovation of the market, it would make meaningful contribution to the socio economic growth and development of the community.

Madam Barney explained that since Representative Julius Berrian donated ten bundles of zinc months ago, they have found to begin the construction.

She also said that most market women are out of business due to the demolition exercise by the Monrovia City Corporation.

Madam Barney is calling on the government and Madam Mary Broh to come to their aid

"We are the one that make government and it is the responsibility of the government to carry on development in every sector and community," She said.
