The Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization Commissioner Abla Gadegbeku Williams has urged female officers of the BIN to be professional and focused in performing their duties.

Commissioner Williams, who is advisor for the BIN Women Association spoke in Paynesville at the end of its election recently when she stressed that professionalism in the security sector makes [a] trained officer.

A release issued in Monrovia by the BIN, quotes Commissioner Williams as saying "Self-protection is one of the first combs in a security sector" so BIN officers should be society and neighborhood friendly.

She said women can make a very good professional in the security, urging the female officers to be patient and wait for their time as the road leading up the ladders require hard work, love and commitment.

Commissioner Williams however challenged the BINWA delegation during the one-day retreat and electioneering process to take advantage of the many opportunities being provided by the BIN administration to enhance their capacities for productivity.

Also speaking, the President of the Liberia Female Law Enforcement Association (LIFLEA) Deputy Director for Administration of the Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) Asatu Bah Kanneh stressed that the road to success is not easy.

She reminded the female officers that there will be an up-hill task, which may require determination and commitment of each of them to reach the summit of success.

"...And once you have reached the point of success, you begin to enjoy the fruit of your labor," said Bah, a former police officer. She admonished the women to remain reflective on their individual lives and do away with complacency and avoid sex for promotion on the job.

She challenged the officers to serve as good role models, reminding them that the Liberia National Police sold her to the society after making her marketable base on her commitment, hard work and dedication on the job. She reiterated that the female officers of BIN can project themselves in such spectrum or mannerism.

In her address, the President-elect of BINWA Col. Catherine B. Solomon reassured her colleagues of her commitment to at moving the association forward with the welfare of female officers as her paramount concern.

Col. Solomon said, "Gone are those days when female officers will not have their just benefit and compensation as enshrined in the constitution of BINWA."
