Ethiopia: Conference On Pulses and Oilseeds Opens Today

A two-day International Conference on Pulses and Oilseeds began today (November 28th) at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa with the theme: "Agri-Commodity Trade: Challenges and Opportunities".

Organized by the Ethiopian Pulses, Oilseeds and Spices Processors and Exporters Association in cooperation with Ministry of Trade, the conference is an opportunity for participants to exchange views and experiences on the challenges and opportunities relating to the trade in agricultural commodities, with particular emphasis on pulses and oilseeds. Close to 100 international companies and over a hundred domestic companies are said to be participating in the conference.

The Processors and Exporters Association has over 110 registered members and in the last fiscal year (2011/2012) Ethiopia earned US$626 million from the export of 365,000 tonnes of pulses, oilseeds and spices.
