Zimbabwe: ZYC Annual Awards Nominations Closed

Nominations for the Zimbabwe Youth Council's annual awards have been closed.

ZYC executive director Mr Livingstone Dzikira said on Monday the awards that seek to reward youths who excel in various disciplines were closed last Friday.

He said adjudicators would deliberate on the nominees this week and come up with the winners.

"We have received 150 nominations for the various categories that have been submitted by various people and organisations for the different categories," said Mr Dzikira

"The nominations have been received from across the country from youths and organisations such as he National Arts Council, Zimbabwe Chamber of Mines and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries, among others."

He said that there would be monetary prizes for the winners, although he could not be drawn to reveal the values.

Sponsors of the prizes include Mbada Diamonds, Old Mutual, Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation and ZYC.

President Robert Mugabe is expected to present the prizes on December 6, said Mr Dzikira.
