The Ethio-German Konnect (EGK), an exchange forum and networking event aiming to create business opportunities and institutional collaboration between Ethiopia and Germany, is being held at the German Development Cooperation Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two day forum with the theme "Innovation through Migration" is organized by the Migration and Diaspora Program of the Center for International Migration and Development, (CIM), a joint cooperation of Deutsche Gesellschaftr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and the German Federal Placement Agency on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. Kokebe Haile-Gabriel, coordinator of the Migration and Diaspora Program of the CIM says it is "a great opportunity for experts and companies from Ethiopia as well as Germany and other parts of the world to connect and collaborate" particularly over technology transfer.
The forum is described as gathering and connecting innovative Ethiopian, German and other Diaspora entrepreneurs, institutions and returned experts This is the second such meeting and this year the forum is focusing on the links between migration and innovation and will examine the potential that migration presents for innovative cooperation and business models.
