Luanda — Angolan writer Victor Amorim Guerra was announced on Wednesday in Luanda as the winner of this year's Sonangol Literature Prize, in the Revelation category.
Victor Amorim Guerra won the prize with the book "Cantos do céu e da terra" which deals with the military conflict that swept the country, depicting the great movement of people from one town to another, as well as touches on matters relating to witchcraft and illegal prospecting of diamonds in the eastern part of Angola.
Speaking to the press, the winner showed his satisfaction with the prize, having thanked the state-owned Sonangol firm for organising the literary contest.
He believes that this contest stimulates the appearance of new talents in the Angolan literature market.
