Gambia: Cherno Samba Quits Club Over 'Wage Demands'

Cherno Samba has part ways with third division club Tonsberg over 'unrealistic' wage demands according to reports.

The Gambian failed to live up to his billing after arriving at the Norwegian club early this year as a big signing. But the 26-year-old's failure to establish himself at Tonsberg coupled with his huge wages is reason for his release by the club according to reports.

The former England youth international has returned to the United Kingdom after his unsuccessful adventure in the lower echelons of leagues in Norway.

Samba puts pen-to-paper with the club with hopes to rediscover his form and touch for goal that made him a preferred candidate over Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney during his hay days in the English youth team.

The ex- Liverpool transfer target had unsuccessful stints in Greece and Finland and had spells of failed trials with Norwich and former premier League side Blackburn Rovers.

Foroyaa Sports will make attempts to reach the player's agents to sound his side of the coin.
