A pro-civil society group, Citizen United to Enhance Democracy, CUED, has hailed recent decision by the Liberia National Police to stop motorcyclists from plying the various streets after 10:P.M. daily describing the decision as a right step in the right direction and in the best interest of the Liberian people.
The group's spokesperson, Sensee Kiadii in an assertion at a local hotel in Monrovia noted that civil society group sees the decision by LNP as a job well done.
He said for too long criminals have taken over the city using motorcycles to arm rob peaceful citizens as well as taking away lives and snatching away hard earned properties for what he referred to as worrisome and needs a therapy if Liberia is to protect its citizens,, something the group said has the propensity to impede investment in the country.
At the same time, the pro-democracy group condemned recent statements made by the host of the Truth Breakfast Show, Mary Williams, for her stance against the resolution of the LNP to stop all motorcyclists from plying the streets after the above mentioned hours.
He noted that Madam Williams allegedly defended the motorcyclists against LNP decision but call on her to see the Police as those who protect lives and properties.
Mr. Kaidi added she in defense of motorcyclists because many of these riders within the city of Monrovia are Nigerians who are believed to be her kinsmen that are allegedly involved in the motorcycles business and may cause hard feelings.
The pro-democracy group also called on LNP authority to be vigilant as it embarks on combating armed robbers,, noting that CUED is in full support of the decision by the LNP and termed the resolution as splendid and well-timing for the good of the citizens of the country.
