The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) Monday begin a seven-day Sports Administration Course at the Regional Education Office Resource Centre of West Coast Region in Brikama. The course brought together officials of the parent sporting body of all sporting associations in the country (GNOC), football coaches, sports committees and fans.
Speaking to Observer Sports, the governor of West Coast Region who also serves as one of the course directors, said the course is organised by the GNOC through the Olympic Solidarity, and is meant to upgrade the standard of sports in the country especially the local people who are involved in sports and may not have the opportunity to be trained anywhere. He said the course will help them to improve on their administrative and management skills to ensure that they govern sports in their own right in a most peaceful atmosphere.
Governor Sanneh noted that the participants of the course are from a cross-section of the community, and includes coaches, sports managers and fans. He also urged the participants to duplicate what they have learnt from the course to those people out there waiting for them.
One of the participants, Ousman Fadera, the vice chairperson of the Kombo Central Youths and Sports, commended the NOC for creating an opportunity for the youths to acquire knowledge on sports. Fadera further said that he is very happy with the way the course tutors are impacting knowledge in them. He also urged his fellow participants to take the course seriously and deliver up to expectation.
