Tunisia: Means to Step Up European Investments in Tunisia Looked At

Carthage — President Moncef Marzouki received, on Wednesday, European Commission Vice-President in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani.

The meeting turned on means to develop economic co-operation and step up European investments in Tunisia, a communiqué of the Presidency of the Republic reads.

The European official who was accompanied by a businessmen delegation, said that the meeting had been "very fruitful," specifying that it had been an occasion to look at prospects to step up investments and trade exchanges between the two sides in this stage, the communiqué reports.

Mr. Tajani also pointed out that President Marzouki had extended to the delegation a "reassuring message" on the democratic transition experience in Tunisia, which would incite, he affirmed, European businessmen to "re-invest heavily in Tunisia," the same source adds.

Tunisia could become a model of democratic transition in the region, Mr. Tajani estimated.
