Angola: Importance of Media in Fighting Irregular Immigration Higlighted

Luanda — The specialist of Portugal's Immigration and Borders Service, José Van der Kellen, last Wednesday in Luanda stressed the importance of the media in fighting irregular immigration.

José Van der Kellen was speaking to the press after presenting the lecture on "The State and the consequences of illegal immigration to peace and security in the Guinea Gulf region", in the framework of the conference that is debating the issue of stability in the mentioned region.

"There are no specific remedies to fight this phenomenon, however one must pay great attention to it", he warned.

José Van der Kellen said the media are important means for instructing the people in regard to immigration matters.

He further emphasized that if such premises are used then conditions would be created to fight the trafficking of human beings more efficiently, thus preventing people from being enticed into prostitution or other forms of exploitation.
