Nigeria: Sultan, Oritsejafor Support Family Planning

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakaar III and President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday pledged their support for the family planning initiative for the improvement of quality of lives of Nigerians.

The duo spoke during a press briefing at the on-going second Nigeria Family Planning Conference in Abuja with the theme: Population and National Development.

Abubakaar observed that family planning has a special recognition in Islam. He was represented by Sarkin Yakin Gagi, Sani Umar Jabbi.

Earlier, the representative of CAN President, Rev. John Kennedy Opara, said while Christianity was against abortion as a population control measure, all measures that would improve the quality of life would be are acceptable in the Christendom.
