Nigeria: Jigawa Awards N5.6 Billion Road Contract

Dutse — The Jigawa State government yesterday awarded a N5.6bn contract for the construction of township roads across the state.

This was disclosed to newsmen by the Commissioner of Information, Youths, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, at the end of state executive council meeting yesterday.

He said the Birnin-Kudu township road which will gulp N1.5bn was awarded to CGC Construction Coy, while Gumel township road was awarded at the cost of N1.2bn, Gwiwa, N509m, Karkarna, N485m, Kirkasama, N1.3bn, and Taura township road at N784m.

The commissioner also announced the release of N89 million for the dry season Fadama 11 and 111 projects.

Other monies released include N112m for the Ministry of Agriculture for improved cowpea, maize seeds and aggro-chemical spray, N36.6 to the Ministry of Education for reconstruction and renovation of hostels at Kafin-Hausa, N110.5m for provision of laboratory equipment for secondary school and N43m for renovation of staff quarters at the Dutse Model School.
