Zambia: Sata Mourns Russian Envoy

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has said he has learnt with shock and sorrow the sudden death of Russian Ambassador to Zambia, Boris Malakhov.

Mr Sata said Mr Malakhov, who died on Monday this week, would be greatly missed for his jovial attitude and the professional manner with which he pursued his mission to enhance bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Zambia and the Russian Federation.

This is according to a message of condolences to his counterpart, President Vladimir Putin.

"Allow me to convey my deepest condolences and sympathies on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Zambia, to the Government and people of the Russian Federation and in a special way to the bereaved family.

"It is our conviction that his tireless efforts and all the projects that were initiated between our two countries under his tenure will succeed and continue to flourish as a testimony to us of his dedication," President Sata said.
