Scores of MDC members have been injured after they were attacked by armed soldiers at a rally at Empress Business Centre in Zhombe, Midlands North province. The rowdy soldiers are camped in the area for Robert Mugabe's controversial maize seed programme.

The Zhombe district rally was being addressed by the Zhombe MP, Hon. Rodgers Tazviona. The armed soldiers ran amok and started assaulting the MDC members at the rally. Some of the injured have since been transferred to hospital. Police from Kwekwe were informed about the attack but they are yet to react.
