A Trichobezoar, hair cluster formation, weighing 1 Kg. has surgically been removed today from the stomach of a 20-year old girl, creating an astounding moment for the surgical crew at Orotta National Referral Hospital in Asmara.

"Such instance happens rarely, but this case is extremely strange due to the weight unloaded from the stomach of the young lady, the successful process of which took us 2 hours", explained Dr. Abraham Tekle, a surgeon who guided the operation. He also advised barbers and hairdressers to take care of hair intake into the stomach.

Reports indicated that Senait Tekle, the patient, used to eat her hair since early years of her childhood, and thus has been experiencing more severe stomach ache over the past two years. Accordingly, the surgical remedy was recommended after referral of the girl's case from the hospital in the port city of Massawa.

Senait, resident of Massawa city is presently in good health status.
