ATHLETICS Namibia held an intensive training camp in Windhoek this week as part of the final preparation for athletes who will compete in the Zone Six competition.
Additionally, a distance and time trial competition will be conducted at the Independence Stadium between 09h00 and 12h00 tomorrow in order to comprehensively assess the athletes’ fitness prior to the major regional competition.
Namibia will send 35 athletes to represent athletics in 30 different events.
“It has been very challenging for the athletes to spend a lot of hours on their training during the last three months as they have been busy preparing and writing exams. But I am happy with their preparation and know that they will do well in Zambia,” said Athletics Namibia Team Manager for the Games, Leoni van Rensburg.
“I am grateful to the government for their support in ensuring that our athletes are ready to compete and we look forward to bringing back some medals from Zone Six.”
